The St.Lawrences Tournament on Saturday 2nd May was a experience for the boys with new rules and skills to learn.

They played good football and adjusted well.

We eventually went out in the Semi-Finals.

Team:-

Under 8B

Have entered two tournaments since the end of the spring season and having played well have been one win away in both tournaments from reaching the Semi-Finals.

Under 10 Tournament Results 1999-2000

After having been in nine previous tournaments and having made it to three finals and two semi-finals.

We have come good in our last of the season today 23 July 2000.

We WON yes Won the Under 10 Springfield 6 A-Side Tournament

At last we have got our hands on some silverware. We beat Watling Boys in the Final. After finishing runners up in our group on goal difference, we scraped a one nil win (Banks) in the quarter-finals against Springfield.

We then came back from 1-0 against Old Isleworthians with a late equaliser in the semi-final (Banks) to take the game to penalties. Robert grant saved three and with Clarke, Bunting and Banks scoring we had won a place in the Final for the third week running and at last the boys hard work paid off.

A thrilling end to end match saw both teams level after normal time. Half way through the first period of extra time Tyone Bunting arrived on the edge of the area and slotted the ball home to get the vital break through. Just before the break a long ball from Tyone put Daniel Clarke through on goal and his shot beat the keeper a Watling defender got the last touch and we were two up.

In the second half Watling pushed forward to try and get a goal back Jack played a through ball down the line and the ball arrived at the feet of Matthew Newlands (Platini) who finished with an emphatic shot and the game was won.

This was the ultimate team performance all seven players gave 110% effort and at last they got their rewards. The team spirit shown by all the players over the summer has been tremendous and this was typified by the site of Jay Mason (substitute in the final) shouting encouragement to his teamates louder than most of the adults.

I would like to thank the boys for all the entertainment they have provided us parents with at these tournaments, and although they have a lot to learn about football they have shown us that they are prepared to battle against any side, and on our day we are a match for most teams.
